Installation & Setup Guide

Spine is distributed via a secure, Image-Based OTA mechanism. Follow these steps to get your node running.

1. Registration & Licensing

Before installing the software, you need a Spine License Key. The license token is a signed JWT that securely provisions your tier (Community, Standard, Premium, or Enterprise) and dynamically unlocks features on your local node.

  • Go to the Pricing Page and select your desired tier.
  • Complete the registration. (For Community tier, no credit card is required).
  • Copy your Spine License Key from your dashboard account. Keep it safe.

2. System Prerequisites

Spine orchestrates agents via containerization. You must have either Podman (recommended) or Docker installed on your host machine. The setup is uniform across Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Mac (Apple Silicon/Intel)

Install Podman Desktop or Docker Desktop. Ensure the daemon is running.

Windows (WSL2)

Install Podman Desktop or Docker Desktop and enable the WSL2 backend.

Linux

Install Podman and Podman Compose via your package manager.

3. Installation Script

Run our universal bash script to bootstrap your node. It will check your dependencies, ask for your license key, and securely pull the latest Cython-obfuscated Spine images.

Note: The script will create a spine-node directory in your current path and store your `.env` and `docker-compose.yml` there.

4. Onboarding Wizard

Once the script finishes pulling the Docker images and starting the containers, your node is online. However, it is locked in a zero-trust state until you complete the final configuration.

  • Navigate to http://localhost:5173 in your browser.
  • You will be greeted by the Mandatory Setup Wizard.
  • Configure your Organization Identity (BYOI) and AI Provider settings.
